Lessons Include Opportunities For:
*Building physical strength by working on lifeskills around the farm. From grooming horses, to exploring the various tasks that keep a farm running, building strength and keeping bodies active are a huge part of what we do here! These tasks help strengthen both gross motor and fine motor skills, while encouraging habits for maintaining overall health.
*Encouraging emotional regulation skills by introducing scenarios that allow participants to recognize and regulate emotions. Horses tend to mirror the emotional state of their handler. Learning ways to process big feelings can help improve the relationship between horse and handler, while allowing these skills to carry over into the participant’s everyday life.
*Strengthening social skills such as communication, empathy, recognizing social cues & promoting the use of problem-solving skills
*Confidence building activities
*Sensory Integration strategies to promote sensory processing skills
*Learning activities to promote cognitive skills
